Mobile, Alabama Styled Shoot at The Pillars | July 23 , 2017

When wedding season gets slow, I get antsy to get behind the camera and photograph all the wedding day details: gorgeous bridal gown’s, stunning bouquet’s of fluffy flowers, a dapper gentleman’s suit, and of course a historical venue. Of course, Toni, a local photographer friend of mine, and I decided to create our own pretties with a Mobile, Alabama Styled Shoot at The Pillars

The planning…

Toni and I spent several weeks mulling over the details of the entire shoot. We knew we wanted a historical location in downtown Mobile, Alabama. We also knew we wanted something traditional but a little out of the box for the styling. I have lots of antique and vintage dishes and trinkets, so we went digging through my cabinets to see what we could come up with.

Shoot Day…

Shoot day came and it was so rewarding see all the details come together. The sweetheart table was styled with a simple white table cloth with a navy blue, herringbone table runner. The centerpiece was a spray of flowers that included peach peonies, yellow and soft pink spray roses, and peach and white carnations accented with bells of Ireland, eucalyptus, and wild fern.

The rest of the table was accented with crystal candle sticks from Zundel’s, antique silver candle sticks and copper cordial goblets. The table was set with copper chargers with Johnson Brother’s Blue Willow China and Rogers Bros. “First Love” silverware.

The Pillars was the perfect location. It offers so many historical aspects. The ornate building is embellished with a mahogany staircase, hand-crafted Bellingrath tiles, and a 150 year old stained glass window.

Thank you…

To all of the vendors that participated and helped make this shoot amazing and fun! A big thank you to Toni Goodie for helping mastermind the entire shoot! It was such a great day and we couldn’t have asked for a better crew to help pull it off!

I am Jessica Smith. I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Spanish Fort, Alabama. Born and raised in Alabama, I have lived on the Gulf Coast for the most of my life. After adventures with my husband’s job in the Coast Guard, we decided it was time to follow our hearts and settle down back on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. Being from Fairhope, my southern heritage is apparent from the time you meet me. My southern “twang” and my love of Alabama football are the giveaways. I am a wife and a mother to three gorgeous sons. I also love to garden and promoting wellness in the world.
